YASUNI

This national park located in the provinces of Napo and Pastaza is covered by tropical rainforest and includes the rivers Napo, Yasuni, Tiputiny, Nashiño and Cononaco. The elevation of the park ranges from 300 to 600 metres above sea level. The park was listed by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve in 1989. The huge park is a home to the Waoraní and the Aucas tribes, who preserve the traditional ways of life in their communities. Access is only possible by boat from Tena or Coca or by air. The park is a home to many animals, such as jaguars, eagles, harpy eagles, caymans, ocelots, Amazon river dolphins, manatees, kinkajous, anacondas, boa constrictors, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans, Amazon parrots and many others. The astonishing biodiversity of this area has recently become threatened by oil drilling. We cooperate with various lodges throughout the park, which offer all levels of accommodation from basic to full service, but always respect the environment.
