Cayambe

Cayambe-Coca is one of the biggest national parks in Ecuador, with an extension over 400 000 hectares.

The altitude of the park is from lowest Amazonian forests to snowy peaks of Cayambe (5790 m) Saraurco and Puntas.

Cayambe volcano is the highest point in the world crossed by the Equator and the only point on the Equator with snow cover.

Many of the rivers that are confluents to Amazon springs right in this national park and creates very important hydrographic system for whole region. Among the most interesting spots in Cayambe – Coca pertains: Thermal springs of Papallacta, Indigenous community of Oyacachi and highest cascade in Ecuador, San Rafael.
