Cuenca is the cultural center of the Ecuadorian south. It was founded in the 1557 as part of the viceroyalty of Perú.
City is located on 2500 meters above the sea level. Has a population about 500 thousand people.
The city is also known as the Athens of the Andes due its numerous churches, museums and other historical monuments.
The Historical center of Cuenca is appreciated by thousands tourists during the year, and also is registered as the humanity's cultural Patrimony by the UNESCO.
